Extremely popular fig tree in the southeastern United State. This deciduous tree with broad, rounded, upright growth habit produces two fig crops a year that are medium sized, and very sweet. You can pick they off the tree and eat them fresh. Also, great dried, baked, in salads, and making preserves. Attracts songbirds, and pollinators. The trees are self-pollinating, and only need 100 chill hours during the dormant season which promotes better fig yields. Special Features	Produces 2 crops per year, medium sized and sweet tasting, self-pollinating. Easy to grow. Attracts songbirds, and pollinators. These sweet figs are great for fresh, or dried consumption, baking, in salads, and making preserves. Low maintenance. Disease, heat, and insect resistance. Drought tolerant.

Sun	Full Sun – Part Shade. Sun helps fruit production, at least 6 hours of Sun.

Planting-General	Dig hole 2X wide and 1X deep as the root ball. Likes well drained moist soil. Likes soil pH 6.0-6.5, slightly acid to neutral. Soil types: sand, loam, sand, and silt. Mulch to prevent soil from drying out or getting too hot. Mulch about 2-3" deep at all times.
Planting-Spacing	Plant at least 10-15Ft. apart center to center.
Watering	Average. Requires deep watering to encourage strong root development. During the growing season ensure consistent moisture for fruit production. Water about every 7-10 days, depending on weather conditions and soil moisture. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock.
Fertilizing	Feed in early Spring with slow release type. Keep roots cool with thick layer of mulch to retain moisture during heat of Summer and colder months of Winter.
Pruning	Prune in early Spring before new growth begins, and while still dormant. Regular pruning controls size and encourages fruit production. Cut back long bare branches hard to promote new growth. Retain branches that have over wintered fruitlets on their tips to ensure fruit growth. Thin out interior branches to improve air flow. Always use clean shears to avoid possibly spreading diseases.
Deer	Deer do favor their taste. Consider planting the American Boxwood near them to deter deer since deer do not like their strong, unpleasant smell. If in a high deer area, spray every 3-6 months with deer repellent.
Flower	Green, insignificant.
Fruit Taste	Very sweet. You'll love their taste, I do!
Soluble Sugar	11-12%. Meaning, when ripe, the figs weight consists of this amount of soluble sugar.
Fruit Color	Purplish brown.
Fruit Size	Medium-Large, and bell shaped.
Pollinator	None required.
Ripening	Zone 8b provides an extended growing season. Typically, one in early Summer (June-July), and in late Summer (August-October).
Chill Hours	100 hours. A chill hour equals 1hour that a fruit plant or tree spends in cooler temperatures ranging from 45-32°F. This is easily meet in Zone 8b.
