Dense, low-mounted evergreen shrub noted for its dark green, glossy, rectangular leaves that feature 5-7 sharp spines. The small white flowers attracts pollinators. Extreme heat/drought tolerance, and high-security, impenetrable barrier to deer and humans. Perfect selection for security barriers, low hedging, foundation, and mass planting. | Planting-General | Dig hole the size of the root ball deep and 2-3 times wide as the root ball. Likes loam, sand, clay soil that are not wet or compacted. Well drained soil. Soil pH range 4.5 to 6.5, pH range from acidic to neutral. Mulch to prevent soil from drying out or getting too hot. Mulch about 2 to 3 inches deep at all times. |
