| Planting-General | Dig hole 2 to 3 times wide and 2 to 3 times deep as the root ball. Adaptable to many soil types, but prefers moist yet well drained acid soil rich in organic material. Fine to add some 1 to 2" of mulch or 3 to 4" pine straw to conserve moisture and suppress weeds. |
| Planting-Spacing | Plant 3 feet apart for solid hedge or screen, 5 feet minimum space between plants, center to center. |
| Watering | Deep soak the area after planting. Water every day after planting, but avoid soggy conditions. They are quite drought tolerant, so afterwards add if soil is dry, new leaves wilt or new stems bend during the day. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock. |
| Fertilizing | Feed with acid fertilizer after blooming in Spring. Cease after August to prevent new growth that could be damaged by early frost. |
| Pruning | Not needed. But respond well to almost any amount. Always use clean shears to avoid possibly spreading diseases. |
| Deer | Deer do not favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent. |
| Flowers | Provides 2 to 3" wide fragrant white flowers from late Spring to early Summer with dark green leaves. |
