Red Heart Rose of Sharon

(Hibiscus syriacus "Red Heart")

Large 4-5" white petals with ruby red in the center single flower on this upright rounded-form deciduous flowering shrub. Attracts both Hummingbirds, and Butterflies. Flowers from Summer to Fall and sometimes until the first frost. Can grow up to 1-2Ft. per year. Special Features Large 4-5” white petals with ruby red in the center single flowers. Low maintenance. Heat, drought, insect, deer, and disease resistant. Attracts Butterflies, and Hummingbirds.

Growth Rate Moderate, about 1Ft. to 2Ft. per year. 
Sun Full Sun – Mostly Sun, Morning Sun with some Afternoon shade, or Morning shade with Afternoon Sun.
Height 8-10Ft.
Width 6-8Ft.
Planting-General Dig hole 2X root ball wide and deep. Spread roots around and fill in with dirt so that the crown is at soil level. Clay (amended), Loam soil type. Likes moisture but well drained soil. Soil pH range 5.5 to 7.5.
Planting-Spacing Plant 12Ft. or more apart between each plant, center to center.
Watering Average water need once established. If a dry spell occurs, provide a deep watering once or twice a week to mimic rainfall. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock.
Fertilizing Feed in early Spring.
Pruning Not needed. If desired, prune in late Fall, or Winter after leaves drop, or in early Spring before buds form. 
Deer Deer do not favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent.
