Ruby Slippers Oakleaf Hydrangea (FUTURE)

Large 9” long cone shaped flowers blooms white, turns pale pink, then deepen to rose color. Blossoms late Spring through Summer. Its dark green oak like leaves (3"-8" long) turn mahogany in the Fall providing beautiful four season visual attraction. Plus, the blooms stay upright even after hard rains, unlike other hydrangeas. This mounding formed, deciduous flowering shrub attracts butterflies, and its compact size uses half the space in your garden compared to other hydrangeas. Special Features Large 9” long cone shaped flowers blooms white, turns pale pink, then deepen to rose color. Blooms in the late Spring through Summer. Blooms stay upright even after hard rains unlike other hydrangeas. Dark green oak like leaves turn mahogany in the Fall for visual attraction. Very low maintenance. Disease, drought (established in part shade), heat, humidity, and insect resistant. Attracts butterflies.

Growth Rate Slow to Medium. Averages 6"-12" per year.
Sun Part Shade. Morning Sun with Afternoon shade or, all day filtered Sun.  
Height 3-4Ft.
Width 3-5Ft.
Planting-General Dig hole 2X wide and 1X deep as the root ball. Top of the root ball should be level or slightly above the soil. Likes loam, silt, clay (amended), sand (amended) soil. Likes moist but well drained soil. Soil pH range  5.5-7.5, acid to slightly alkaline.
Planting-Spacing Plant 3Ft. - 4Ft. apart for solid hedge between each plant, center to center. 8Ft. or more, for more open hedge, center to center.
Watering Average water need once established. If a dry spell occurs, provide a deep watering once or twice a week to mimic rainfall. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock.
Fertilizing Feed in early Spring with slow release fertilizer. 
Pruning Prune sparingly, after it has finished flowering in the Summer. Always cut above a leaf node. Because it blooms on old wood, it is important to avoid cutting off next year's flower buds.
Deer Deer do favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent.
