Stella de Oro Daylily

(Hemerocallis Stella de Oro)

Produces masses of golden trumpets with ruffled edged flowers, up to 2.75" wide, that rebloom for an extremely long blooming period.  It is compact, vigorous, and fragrant with small green throats atop mounds of arching blade like leaves. Each flower lasting 16 to 24 hours opening in the morning and withering during the night, that is replaced by another one the next day, from summer to fall year after year.  This perennial attracts butterflies and hummingbirds with no fuss.  Perfect along walkways, borders, beds, edging, ground cover, patio, or garden. Planting-General Likes well drained, moist soil. Soil types include: clay (amended), loam, sand (amended), salt. Soil Ph levels range from 6.0 to 8.0, slightly acid to slightly alkaline.
Planting-Spacing Plant 15" to 18" for mass plantings, or as a solid border.  36" or more apart for space between plants.
Watering Average. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock.
Fertilizing Apply fertilizer in each spring before the daylilies begin to bloom.
Pruning Pinch off as they start to fade. Prune flower stalks at their base when flower have faded. Remove spent foliage in late fall. Cut back leaves, leaving a few inches from the ground in late fall.
Deer Deer do not favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent.
Flowers Reblooming 2.75" wide golden trumpet flowers lasting 16 to 24 hours opening in the morning and withering during the night, replaced by another one the next day.
