This evergreen does "shine" with its glossy golden yellow ovate leaves. And its panicles of small white flowers in summer are enjoyed by butterflies, giving way to small glossy blue-black berries loved by birds. Excellent selection for hedges, border, foundations, or privacy screen, container, patio, and garden. Also known as Chinese Privet, and Golden Privet. See Specifications below. Planting-General Likes sand, loam, silt, and clay (amended) soil. Moist but well drained, well-drained. Soil pH range 6 to 8. Moderately acid to slightly alkaline.
Planting-Spacing Plant 1-3Ft. apart for solid hedge; 6Ft. or more between plants with no pruning.
Watering Average, low once established. Can add Root Stimulation which helps early root development and strengths roots, as well as, reduces plant shock when planting.
Fertilizing Feed in spring with slow release fertilize for shrubs & trees. 
Pruning Can prune anytime to remove damage branches. However, do not prune about 2 month prior to first frost. 
Deer Deer do not favor their taste. If in a high deer area, spray every 3 to 6 months with deer repellent.
Flowers

Panicles of small white flowers in summer are enjoyed by butterflies.
